The incident happened on Thursday, March 7 just after 7:45 p.m., when a man was hit by a car while walking in one of the southbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway in White Plains just south of Main Street, according to Westchester County Police Public Information Officer Kieran O'Leary.
The victim was hit by a vehicle traveling south in the left lane while walking in the direction of oncoming traffic, O'Leary said. The driver who struck the man stayed at the scene.
The crash was seen by several other drivers, including two nurses who immediately began giving medical attention to the man.
He was also helped by the Westchester County and White Plains Police Departments and Empress Ambulance crews, who took him to Westchester Medical Center.
There, he was pronounced dead just after 8:10 p.m.
The man, who was in his 50s, has not yet been identified pending notification of his family.
